In the early years of the 20th century, when my father was a small child, the family and all the uncles, aunts & cousins went camping in northern Michigan. They roughed it in canvas tents furnished with oriental rugs, rockers and real beds which they stored over the winter in a rented shed. The men went fishing wearing starched white shirts and bow ties while the women in their long dresses took care of the children, cooked and, well, white shirts do get dirty.

“Yesterday’s Summer” is a CD-ROM full of the remarkable photographs taken by my grandfather and stories narrated by my father. This tribute to my family was my first multimedia project. It opened my eyes to the many possibilities offered by this exciting new industry.
